After Restorative Yoga this morning, we walked down to the Farmington River together and chanted the Gayatri Mantra 108 times. It was all the more joyful because we sang it! I loved belting it out and because we were together it felt powerful and had much more meaning to me. The sun was shining, the sky was blue and the sound of the the river created a magical experience.
Here is the mantra:
Om Bhur Bhuvaḥ Swaḥ
Bhargo Devasya Dhīmahi
Dhiyo Yonaḥ Prachodayāt
General meaning: We meditate on that most adored Supreme Lord, the creator, whose effulgence (divine light) illumines all realms (physical, mental and spiritual). May this divine light illumine our intellect.
